Sound the Alarm
A call to prayer
There has been a clarion call issued by God for watchmen and intercessors. God is calling us to cry out and war on behalf of the nations. This call transcends geographical boundaries. This call crosses denominational divides. We have been given the assignment to lift up our voices, sound the alarm, and intercede for God's people. We are living in a day and time where prayer, fasting, and intercession appear obsolete. Prayer has been removed from schools, public places, and even in today's church. Gone are days of midnight hour shut-in prayer. Corporate prayer is nearly non-existent. Fasting and consecration is no longer a part of our lifestyle, but it has become a thing of the past.
Financial infrastructures worldwide are plummeting. Financial forecasts look grim. Unemployment rate has sky-rocketed. Suicide and depression are on the rise. There are many people in the body of Christ who are suffering in silence. Surprisingly there are believers in the Christian faith who are battling the spirit of depression. Prayerlessness has crept into the family. Division, discord, and bickering have replaced prayer, love, and unity. Substance and alcohol abuse has infiltrated our youth. We cannot afford to keep silent and idly sit by any longer. We cannot ignore the cries of the helpless, the hopeless, and the bruised. Right in our communities we see senseless killings, unexplained sickness, and human trafficking. The land is bleeding because of the lack of prayer. We have to do something! The bible declares that God has set watchmen on the walls. The watchmen were stationed in the outskirts of the city in a watch tower. They were isolated and in an elevated place to avoid being distracted. Sometimes God will allow us to be isolated and alone. He isolates us not as punishment, but so that we can hear His voice clearly. As intercessors, we must remain focused so that we are able to discern and pray the will of God. Intercessors do not pray man's will, we pray God's will.
The intercessor is one of Satan's most attacked enemies. Satan attempts to frustrate the intercessor to the point that it is difficult to pray or to the point of being unable to pray. Satan knows the power that lies within the intercessor. That is why he fights the watchmen and the intercessor so intensely. However Psalm 34:19 states "Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers them out of them all.Satan fights what he fears! He knows the intercessors and the watchmen have the power to see his attacks and stop them before they happen. When the watchmen would see an enemy approaching an alarm was sounded alerting the community to prepare to attack. The role of today's watchmen and the watchmen in biblical times are similar. The watchmen were positioned so that they could see the enemy and sound the alarm long before the enemy could see them. The watchmen were on assignment at times of peace and in times of war. In other words, they didn't get on their post when news of the enemy's attacks were brewing. They remained vigilant at all times. They prayed when all was well and they prayed when all hell broke loose. The key is to never stop praying. The moment we allow our guard down, is the moment when the enemy can creep in.
The watch tower overlooked the city, the crops, livestock, and the residential areas. The role of the watchmen in Isaiah 62:6 is the same role God has given the intercessor and prayer warrior today. We must stand boldly on the prayer wall on high alert and cry out for the nations. The bible declares that we are not to hold our peace any longer. We have been silent for too long. While we have been silent the enemy has been on a violent rampage against the believer. Now the time has come for the believer to get violent in our prayers. The bible says in Matthew 11:12 "From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force". Our children need us to get violent in our prayers. The nations need the intercessors violently interceding on behalf of our government. The church needs the watchmen guarding our spiritual gates against wickedness. We decree and declare that worldwide watchmen and intercessors will remain vigilant, alert, and ready to pray at all time. Sound the alarm, lift up your voices, and declare the decree through prayer.
